Local SEO guide

Local SEO for small businesses.

Local SEO helps search engines connect a real business, its services and the places it genuinely serves.

Local SEO planning workspace showing search visibility and location signals

Start with the real business entity

Keep the business name, contact details, website and location information consistent. A complete Google Business Profile and a clear contact page help search systems connect the website to the real business.

Service pages come before town stuffing

Explain the actual services well. Then add location pages only where the business genuinely serves the area and can provide useful local context. Swapping one town name into otherwise identical pages is not a strong local strategy.

What makes a location page useful?

  • Clear service relevance for that area.
  • Local examples, proof or practical context where available.
  • Useful links to the main service and contact routes.
  • Original copy rather than duplicated town templates.

Reviews and local links

Genuine customer reviews and relevant local mentions can strengthen trust. Never invent reviews, ratings, addresses or local proof to make a page appear more authoritative.

AEO/GEO angle: direct answers, clear business details and useful local evidence also make a page easier for answer engines and AI-assisted search systems to interpret.
